A clean, purpose-built interface lead for connecting an external microphone, mixer, or other unbalanced audio source to Kenwood transceivers equipped with the 13-pin ACC2 accessory socket. Balanced inputs must first be converted to unbalanced using a suitable transformer/DI box. PTT control is provided via a 1/4" 6.35mm connector allowing use with foot switches or other external PTT controllers — without occupying the front-panel microphone socket.
Audio is routed directly into the ACC2 TX audio input, bypassing the front-panel MIC jack entirely. This makes it well suited to fixed-station installations where a desktop or boom microphone is permanently wired in, or where a mixer or audio processor sits in the signal chain.
Connections:
- TX Audio In — XLR female (unbalanced input, wired to ACC2 TX audio pin)
- PTT In — 1/4" 6.35mm mono socket (ground-to-transmit, wired to ACC2 PTT pin)
- 13-pin DIN — wired to Kenwood ACC2 pinout
Compatible with: Kenwood TS-990S, TS-890S, TS-590SG, and other Kenwood transceivers with a 13-pin ACC2 accessory socket. Refer to your transceiver service manual to confirm ACC2 TX audio and PTT pin assignments before use.
Typical applications: External desktop microphones, broadcast-style condenser mics (with appropriate phantom power supply), audio mixers, foot-switch PTT control, and fixed shack installations requiring a tidy, permanent audio feed.
